I know this problem exists, but in all my business knowledge immaturity, obviously, I just learnt of this term:
KEY PERSON DEPENDENCY.
It even has its own acronym - KPD (again, obviously).
When you google ‘reliance on key person’, you’ll receive 130,000,000 results.
It’s a big thing.
In the search results this word appears more often than others:
And when you look further into the top solutions to this business problem you find them quite simply as…
Ive been really fortunate over the last few weeks to be in a place where the flow is just happening.
Ideas, design, redesign, all sorts of amazing stuff.
I’ve also been lucky to be able to bring on a part time contractor.
Oh my, what a gem. And what an enabler.
Her induction process has naturally resulted in detailed discussions.
Because every time you explain your business to someone new, is a MASSIVE OPPORTUNITY.
You see or are reminded of those things that don’t makes sense easily.
And it opens up a new view on it.
Before it gets embedded as ‘normal’.
How many times have you heard that recommendation?
I hear it daily sometimes.
Often it relates to the memories you want to recall years later about your kids.
Their quirks and personalities, the milestones, the achievements, the cheekiness.
How you felt when they finally fell asleep after that massive tantrum…
When they melted your heart with such innocence or kindness or hilarity.
So we CAPTURE IT.

You're preparing for the architect to arrive at your place. You’re super excited. This is your dream home. The plans are out.
The first thing you’re presented with is the mechanics of how the garden shed will be structured and laid out. What? Why would they do that?
Yes the garden shed is an important part of your dream home. One you will certainly spend quite some time in I’m sure. And I hope it’s a beautiful space for you. I really do.
But it doesn’t show you what you need to know, at that time. To be able to instantly see what your place will look like. You need to be presented first up with the big picture. Your HOME.
This guy has just broken out of his old, restrictive skin. It's now served its purpose as a protective layer while he lived underground, anywhere between 2 and 17 years (yes, seriously). So at this point, he's only got 5-6 weeks to live. He's got to evolve, and quickly so he can fly about and do those things he's been waiting all those years to do - sit clicking in the trees, find that mate and keep the circle of life going.
Smart business owners follow a similar transformation as their business grows. They 'let go' and move out of the underground to new pastures and areas of focus and action. But it can be easier said than done shedding that skin huh?
